New Way Driving: Wear Eye Rather Than Hand

German scientists developed a car called 'Spirit of Berlin'. Simply use the eye.

Tired of holding the steering wheel? Maybe you should try this new technology. German scientists have developed a new technology that allows driving a car using only the eye.

Researcher Free University of Berlin, Raul Rojas, said that this technology works under the driver's eye movement. This car was reading the direction of movement of the eyes and walk to wherever the eye is directed.

Rojas and his team presented the prototype of this technology under the auspices of the bright blue sky at a former airport land in the capital of Germany.

Cars with the latest technology across the Tempelhof airport runway. The driver of the car without a steering wheel to steer it using his views. This car is like a ghost car, driving with no hands.

With this technology, allows controlled with speeds up to 30 miles per hour or 50 kilometers per hour.

"The next target, this car can be controlled with a speed of 60 miles per hour," said Rojas.

Added to him, the biggest challenge facing this car is a hindrance, pedestrians or other vehicles.

Currently, the solution to the problem was, the driver's car without a steering wheel enough to look into the rearview mirror to drive the car.

If this technology will be commercialized, the issue of safety became a big question mark. What if the driver saw a nice view, or stunned to see a pretty girl for a few seconds?

Not to mention, about the interruption phone calls, or when the driver should send a short message?

It was also a consideration to the researchers. The car is named 'Spirit of Berlin' or 'Life Berlin' is equipped with an automatic car GPS navigation, a camera, laser, and scanners that allow cars to drive themselves, according to the driver's command.

"This car can do anything. Can be automatically or the driver's eyes follow the guidelines," said Rojas.

"The car will stop at the intersection and asked for guidance from the driver." The process only takes a few seconds.

To show that compromise the ability of the car, Rojas jumped in front of the car which is running in the speed of 10 miles per hour. Fortunately, the car stopped immediately.

"Just time, I was very lucky," said Rojas.

If you find it difficult to run this with my eyes. There is another alternative, using the iPhone as a remote control car.

This car will also be equipped to stop the speed of conventional systems, equipped with two large emergency button on the back of the car. Just push, all closed systems.
