Renault DeZir

The Renault DeZir is an electric concept that was first officially presented at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The car is a two seater coup with butterfly doors, and the interior is of red leather. It features a 148 hp mid-mounted electric motor. This gives the concept rivalry with the Audi e-tron, with 060 mph (097 km/h) in just five seconds and a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h).

2011 Renault CAPTUR

A sporty crossover with a flowing and athletic body language, it conjures up visions of two people exploring the world and previews a forthcoming road car.
Its Energy dCi 160 twin-turbo engine-concept combines driving fun, enjoyable performance and low CO2 emissions.

At the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, Renault revealed its new brand identity which puts people at the forefront of its concerns. The new and ambitious design strategy which resulted from this is founded on different stages of the human life cycle, with each phase taking the form of a specific concept car. The first, the two-seater DeZir coup, expressed falling in love, the passion present at the beginning of any new

adventure. Now Renault CAPTUR addresses the second phase of this cycle, that of two people exploring the world around them.
Just like its predecessor, Renault CAPTUR defines the simple, sensuous and warm style that will be progressively extended to future Renault car designs

In its proportions and fluid curves, Renault CAPTUR evokes movement and lightness, yet at the same time displaying powerful and muscular all-terrain cues. Just as with DeZir, angles, corners and lines have given way to sensuous and natural forms. For the exterior designer, Julio Lozano, the main sources of inspiration were athletes and radical sports. In designing CAPTUR, I began with the image of a sprinter on the starting

blocks, his muscles tensed, and the energy unleashed when the starting pistol is fired, he explains. The design also references equipment such as helmets, gloves and other protective gear used in radical sports, combining high technology with sophistication and lightness.

2011 British GP: Red Bulls Reign Disrupted

None of the usual suspects aka the drivers of Red Bull or McLaren- occupied the top spot on the podium of the British Grand Prix that took place on Sunday at Silverstone. Instead, the winner was Fernando Alonso, who managed his first win of the season, and 27th overall in his career, making the best both of Ferraris obvious progress and the catastrophic pit stop of early leader Sebastian Vettel.

British GP: Red Bull Takes the Front Row in Qualifying with Webber in Pole Position

The unpredictable weather conditions made the qualifying of the British Grand Prix something of a gamble, and the teams weather forecasts were expecting rain during the final session. So everyone made sure that they got out quickly in order to set a fast time before it started to rain again.

British GP Practice: Massa Shines in the Rain

Ferraris Felipe Massa set the quickest time in Fridays afternoon practice session of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend at Silverstone. Renault Frendzy Concept

French automaker Renault has just unveiled its latest zany electric concept. Called Frendzy, this electrifying vehicle is a 14-foot-long whimsical design study that showcases some of the automaker's innovative technologies.

For motivation, the Frendzy makes use of the electric gear that powers the Renault Kangoo Z.E. Renault has not revealed the Frendzy's estimated range, but does claim the battery-powered concept tops out at 80 miles per hour.

Renault pitches the Frendzy as a multi-purpose vehicle, saying that it transforms from a workaday vehicle to a family-hauling machine on weekends. Renault describes the Frendzy's transformation like this:

On weekdays, Frendzy is a vehicle that adapts to the requirements of the business user, with a large external screen that can display useful messages or information or advertising messages, either while parked or on the move. Come the weekend, the vehicle transforms itself into a family vehicle, with a comfortable passenger seat and, in the rear, a big bench seat. Depending on their mood of the moment, children can watch a film or play games on the touch-sensitive pad which slides out from the back of the driver's seat. They can even draw on a special slate integrated into the sliding door.
According to Renault, the Frendzy is a "multi-faceted friend" that automatically tackles friendly tasks, including changing the orientation of the exterior mirrors, setting the interior mood lighting and altering the vehicle's pedestrian warning system as the Frendzy transforms from "work" to "family" mode.

Given these zany features, it seems unlikely the Frendzy will enter production. However, we do know that this electric concept will make its world debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Hit the jump to catch some video of the electrified Frendzy. Looking for more details? Check out Renault's press release after the jump.

The Frendzy is a fresh take on the small van segment where Renault is currently represented by the Kangoo series that is available in both leisure and commercial versions.

SCOOP: Renault Preparing Low-Cost Dacia 7-Seat Minivan

It turns out that the rumors surrounding Renaults plans to expand the range of its budget brand Dacia with a 7-seat MPV that we told you about earlier this year were true. Our man with the long lens caught a prototype of the Dacia MPV codenamed J92 in heavy camouflage while on test on European roads.
The compact minivan, which some say may carry the Popster nameplate, is believed to ride on an extended version of the Logans platform architecture measuring around 4.5-meters in length with power coming from Dacias existing range of Renault-sourced gasoline and turbo diesel engines.

2012 Renault Koleos Facelift Inspires Gordini Rendering

Even though Renaults revival of the Gordini badge has left a bitter taste to fans of the famous nameplate, the French carmakers decision to use the brand for upscale versions of its vehicles has proved to be successful with almost two-thirds of Twingo Renaultsport models sold in Europe and one third, in the case of Clio Renaultsport being Gordinis.
Recently, Renault also applied the Gordini treatment, which consists of bespoke styling cues and equipment upgrades, to a non-RenaultSport model, the Wind Roadster. This move inspired Carscoop reader reader L il-k Amaru to render a Gordini version of Renaults most recent new model, the redesigned Koleos SUV.

Monstrous Paramount Marauder Armored Vehicle to Star in First Episode of Top Gear Season 17

In just a few hours from now, Top Gear will air the first episode of season 17 on BBC. During the past two weeks, we got a taste of what Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond have in store for us this year through two teaser clips.
In one of those trailers, we saw a large off-road-like vehicle playing the role of a monster truck on a white Alfa Romeo 156 and an older generation Renault Megane sedan.
It turns out that the vehicle is a mine protected armored truck called Marauder from South African company Paramount Group and the driver behind the steering wheel is Richard Hammond. We were contacted by Paramount Group who told us that the Marauder will be featured in tonight's first episode of Top Gear Season 17.

F1: Sebastian Vettel takes his 6th Win in Valencia

Sebastian Vettel is on a roll and no one seems able to stop him and his Red Bull from adding a second Formula 1 championship to their trophy list. This was confirmed once again today in the European Grand Prix in Valencia, in the eighth race of the 2011, where Vettel took his sixth win of the season. The German world champion started from the pole position and was never challenged during the race as he cruised to another win.
The only driver to even come close was Ferraris Fernando Alonso who started from fourth place and, like his team-mate Felipe Massa, made a terrific start. Alonso had a fight with the Red Bull of Mark Webber who, despite starting from the front row, eventually lost out to the Spaniard who finished the race second, more than 10 seconds behind Vettel.

Renault Koleos SUV Refreshed for the 2012 Model Year

Its only three years old, but its apparently time for the Renault Koleos compact SUV to receive its first facelift. The changes include an exterior makeover and new interior trim, plus noticeable CO2 and fuel consumption savings in the case of the crossover models range of diesel powerplants.
The first thing youll notice on the updated model is the brand new fascia, evidently inspired by the newly launched Latitude sedan, which like the Koleos, is the product of Renault Samsung Motors in Busan, South Korea.
